Executive Director

Board of Directors
Location:
Redwood City, CA
THE ORGANIZATION
Overview
There With Care’s mission is to provide meaningful and fundamental services to children and their families during the critical phases of a medical crisis. The organization supports families referred by medical agencies by offering a variety of essential services and building a community of volunteers to help ease life’s day-to-day challenges with compassion and care.
There with Care was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 2005 and launched its first chapter – There With Care Bay Area - in 2012. A decade later the Bay Area chapter has grown into a thriving $1.6M nonprofit and delivered care to more than 3,000 families with the support of 2,500+ volunteers providing over 65,000 hours of service. It maintains a strong relationship with the national organization in Boulder leveraging its expertise, resources and scale while operating independently with its own leadership, staff, budget, and board and evolving in the context of the Bay Area.
There With Care Bay Area receives family referrals from Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco and works closely with their social workers and staff to identify family needs. With a dedicated volunteer base and a network of community partners, including Ronald McDonald House Charities (Bay Area), Family House (Mission Bay), and Second Harvest Food Bank, the organization lessens the daily stresses of families enabling them to have more time with their child(ren). The care provided is unique to each family but typically falls within this range of services: grocery and meal deliveries; transportation and gas cost assistance; baby essentials such as diapers and car seats; home maintenance, including industrial cleaning for families with immune-compromised children; and sibling support.
Essential to There With Care Bay Area’s success is the genuine integration of its core values – including the abilities to listen, support, participate, thank and care – in every aspect of the organization. From handwritten notes attached to family care bags to kid-friendly and flexible volunteer opportunities to a collaborative and supportive work environment, these values define There With Care Bay Area and guide delivery of its mission.
The organization’s work is made possible by a portfolio of individual and institutional funders who deeply believe in its impact on the health outcomes and well-being of the families it serves. Bolstered by this strong financial base and energized by the success of the past ten years, the organization begins its next phase poised for significant expansion as it increases funding opportunities, deepens community partnerships, engages more volunteers and ultimately enhances and extends care to more families.
